I LOVE YOU!!

we didn’t really do anything special this year, but spent quality time together the entire weekend.. mum picked her own “present” which is a nougat from France and imported choco mint pudding.. isn’t she the cutest??

for dinner, she choose to eat at Bliss 33 which is nearby our house and serves good food at affordable prices..

Mum ordered the Sizzling steak

forRM 16.90 it sure was a steal as the cut was thick with a pink centre.. yum!!

my order was sambal petai fish fillet (RM9.90)

the fish fillet was so succulent complimented by crunchy dried prawns..

my only complaint?? NOT ENOUGH!! lol

grilled chicken with mushroom rice (RM9.90)

grilled lamb chop (RM 10.90) was sinfully good!!

salted egg butter squid was the star of the night.. (RM 9.90)

tender squid coated in light batter deep fried in egg and salted egg

if only there was no such thing as hypercholesterolemia and obesity..

another winner would be their mango smoothie (RM 5.20)

topped with whipped cream, the slightly tangy drink made the perfect end to our meal

there are 3 seperate seating areas

the outside area with a nice pond

inside dining area

and another lounge style section.

the menu wasn’t very extensive but it had a variety of cuisines to choose from..

they have malaysian, italian pasta, western food, and thai tom yam

they also have chinese style breakfast such as half boiled eggs and toast

not to mention a huge variety of drinks with Cendol as their specialty!

the highly recommended mee mamak certainly did not disappoint.

at RM 7.90, the portion was generous with extra vegetable as requested along with prawns and squid.

with an extra dose of lime, it was good till the last bite

pasta alfredo (RM9.90) came with generous helping of chicken, sausages and shitake mushroom

given a choice between spaghetti and fetucinni, this dish was simply comforting on a cold rainy day..

they have a variety of other pastas too

since we’re both pretty ravenous we ordered a cheezy wedges to share..

for RM 5, the portion was humongous with liberal dosing of cheese sauce, the wedges were crisp to the last bit!

for those in sban, its a definitely must try..

jenlye claims its better than kensington and pizza italia!

As usual, the 5 of us had a small quiet reunion dinner cooked by mummy XD

this year, no Happy to watch us eat dinner with his sad little eyes from the main door.. and the furious wagging of tail when we give him a treat.

12/12/09: A few days before christmas, the gang had a christmas dinner at uncle’s place.. lots of good food and hearty laughter made us deliriously manic XD i contributed this sinfully sweet satisfying dessert, caramel custard..

20/12/09: had a little too much spare minutes on my tubby fingers, and attempted to create master chef g-wong’s delicious bread and butter pudding.. as expected, a few things were modified, vanilla pods being replaced by vanilla essence and baileys’ being replaced by malt.. overall, the Ang’s still demanded a second attempt.. success??

22/12/09: tong yuen day.. despite being a festival where families came together, i spent mine in sban.. but mum made me tong yuen the day before *hearts*

25/12/09: merry christmas!! dinner at TJ haus was a delight as always.. but we geniouses only realised we forgot to order our favourite dish once we finished.. but of course, there’s room for more *wink* no pictures though cos it evaporated!! and of course, my favourite cheese cake *yums*

27/12/09: shopping trip to MV.. with the not-so-hidden agenda to revisit Belanga.. needless to say the food is so sinfully good.. my favourites, roti jala kari ayam and nasi dagang ikan tongkol..

dad loved the Hogwarts-like theme decor in MV so much that he was all tourisy.. lols!!

and of course, Swensons with Mc D fries!! yippee..

26/12/09: family party at Malacca (waistline complains: more good food?????)

this is also where i fell in love real bad with my cousin’s DSLR.. despite weighing a tonne *flexesbiceps* and a few failed shots, i felt so pro clicking away.. and my effort paid off when some of the shots i took were *if i must say myself* were beautiful!! Dals, faster upload the photos!!

31/12/09: the last day of 2009, we decided to go shopping for CNY.. not wanting to spend the day jamming with other people, we went very early and left before the fireworks started.. now is that genius or is that genius?? bought so many stuff (blame it on the crazy sales) and of couse it included shoes…………. ’nuff said.

revisited the International House of Pancakes.. ahhh.. in this context, the photo below paints a MILLION words!! *warning, not for the empty stomach-ed*

Is shopping considered excersize?? well, it sure made us hungry!! Papa John’s happened to be at the right place at the right time which is in front of our growling stomachs.. and it sure didn’t disappoint, but it didn’t WOW either.. we’re still loyal to the italian pizza in sban.. XD

1/1/10: A year older (and hopefully more mature).totally forgot that its a new year until my brother exclaimed that he’s gonna take his first POO for the year..!!

what’s yours??

if you are planning to see a post with the famous ipoh food such as chicken rice and dimsum, this is not the place.. haha cos we got to try new stuff thanks to HK..

Sun Hing Loong: famous yam cha place famous for their ipoh white coffee served with warm toast spread generously with kaya and butter topped with half boiled eggs..

also, there were some vendors just outside selling ipoh version of chee cheong fun.. not bad..

next was dinner at Restoran Bukit Tambun..

this shop had the best yam basket i ever tasted and i will be back for more..

HK’s parents ordered this escargot look alike.. the waitress told us to remove the blackish part (intestines) before eating.. hmm.. not my kinda thing =P

there were more things we ate..

chee cheong fun, duck noodle, fried kuey teow, crispy popiah, red bean ice blended, rojak buah, honey roast chicken at Menglembu..

funny mountain yong tofu with soya milk, sang mee, and chicken rice, roast duck, char siew and siew yoke in town..

as if that wasn’t enough.. we bought so much goodies back home.. phong pneah, muruku, kacang putih, egg tarts, kaya puff, salt baked chicken, guava.. wow!! if only you seen how much we bought.. or rather Jenlye bought ahaha.. he had to borrow a bag from HK!! ahaha..

egg tart and kaya puff.. from Menglembu.. its super good i tell you.. and i’m saying that with a super full and rounder tummy..

first time my mum complained that there was too much kaya inside.. *lol*

oh, we also managed to go to this phong pneah factory in gunung rapat!! *yums*

made the traditional way using coconut husks..

and once ready left to cool before packing and then sent off to various shops..

after they got off from hospital, they came find me and we went to cook a yummy dinner!!

DAY 1

went to glenelg beach

take many many photos but sadly none with the 3 of us..

ate fish and chips by the beach (plus keeping an eye out for those seagulls)

take photo of us jumping (or rather in my case landing)

while some of us have different agendas while jumping………..

it was freezing that day by the beach, so…. more hot chocolate!!

where we milked cows from the “other” end..

and then we walked and walked and walked till we got home..

had Sushi train for dinner but we were too hungry to take photos of the food.. haha..

supper was pancakes at a 24/7 pancake house.. quaint little place just near Rundall.. and there’s a big sign board on the door which says this door is always open for you.. awww.. so sweet..

warm buttermilk pancakes served with vanilla ice cream and maple syrup..

needless to say Xan-di went to sleep with a very happy tummy that night =D

for all chocolate lovers such as yours truly, this place is a must try!! think of it as a chocolate version of starbucks..

on cold winter nights, this place is full to the brim which just proves how good it is considering ample seating and another branch just across the street.

located in an alley in Melb central, this place can get pretty cold during winter nights but no worries, their heater is just so warm and cosy.

tutti frutti: belgian chocolate waffles with a hint of cinnamon served with ice cream and fruits.. too good for words!!

mint hot chocolate: hot and rich chocolate served in a hug mug with a hint of mint.. yummy!!

this is how to drink from the hug mug.. warm hot choc keeping your tummy happy while holding the warm mug keeps frozen fingers warm.. this is multitasking at its yummiest!!

1. 400 ° gradi on Lygon st

good italian food with chic ambience. fresh oven baked pizzas with a variety of interesting flavours topped with sprigs of rocket and served on a chopping board for decor. this shop takes the meaning of pizza to a whole new level.

but, their pastas were disappointing, nuff said

2. su:t and wines at Box hill

typical korean bbq restaurant minus the smoky smell plus using charcoal.

plates of mouth watering beef, pork and chicken marinated to perfection is just so good!!

dipped in their home sauces

served with generous helpings of kimchi, and perfect end to the already perfect meal with seafood pancake. soft, fluffy and filled with fresh seafood..
